Don’t see the club you are interested in? It is easy to start a new one! Here are the 4 simple steps:
1. Indicate your interest: SUConnect Interest Form: Visit the Student Leadership and Involvement group on SUconnect and complete the “New Club Interest” form. This helps the Student Leadership and Involvement Office to review your ideas and support you during the formation of your group. You will receive a confirmation approving you to start the process. (Don’t know how to get to SUconnect? Go to campus cruiser (link), log-in, and click on the tab that says “SUconnect”.)
2. Build your leadership team: Executive Board and Faculty/Staff Advisor: Talk to your fellow students and form a team of four students who will serve as executive (e-board) members, and a faculty or staff member to serve as your advisor. Your e-board must have a 2.3 GPA or higher, and your advisor must be a current faculty or staff member at Suffolk University.
3. Create your foundation: Constitution and Registration Form: Once your leadership team is formed, the group should meet and create the group’s constitution. Please use the documents provided to you during the interest phase to do this.
4. Submit your materials: Email your final constitution and registration form to Meghan Kenney, Associate Director of Student Leadership and involvement at mkenney@suffolk.edu.
5. Get Trained: Attend Programming 101: Your executive board must register for and attend a Programming 101 training, which will give you all the tools for programming on campus, including how to reserve a room, request money, and host an event. The registration form for Programming 101 is on the SLI group page on SUconnect.
Once you have completed all the registration requirements, you will receive a memo announcing your official status, and you will also be assigned to a Program Advisor from the SLI office to help you begin planning your meetings and events.
