The summaries of cases for oral argument were prepared by Marc G. Perlin, Professor of Law at Suffolk University Law School. Herrick v. Essex Regional Retirement Board
Administrative Law-- WHere a public retirement board erroneously denied retirement benefits, whether the employee is entitled to interest on a retroactive paymenet of retirement benefits.

Grady v. Trustee of A&I Realty Trust
Zoning-- This is an appeal of a decision denying a request to revoke a building permit on the basis that a zoning variance was not timely recorded.


Commonwealth v. Cumming
Criminal; Sentencing-- The defendant is appealing resentencing after convictions for sexual offenses where the original sentence was vacated.


Massachusetts Community College Council v. Massachusetts Board of Higher Education/Roxbury Community College
Arbitration-- Whether a nonbinding arbitration award arising out of a denial of tenure to a professor at a state college is subject to confirmation in the Superior Court.


In re McGuiness
Administrative Law-- This is an appeal of a decision of the Civil Service Commission terminating employees from their positions at the Department of Correction.


Commonwealth v. Moody
  (Reserve Case)
Search and Seizure-- Whether a judge may issue a warrant allowing law enforcement to intercept cellular telephone calls and text messages.
