New student hires are usually given two shifts of 4 hours each. As the student gains experience, he or she may acquire more hours up to a maximum of 20 hours per week during the school year. For workstudy students, the starting wage is based on their allotment as is not controlled by the library. For students joining the regular budget, the starting hourly wage is $8.50 per hour. Wage increases are based on experience and merit.

The hiring process begins one month before the start of a new semester. At times, positions will be available during the school year. Please check at the main Circulation desk to learn if there are any mid-semester positions available.

Shifts are assigned based on availability and experience. You will not be asked to work shifts that conflict with your classes, but it up to you to manage your time in regards to balancing your coursework and shifts. Due to the number of students seeking on campus work, those students who repeatedly do not show up for their assigned shifts will be fired in order to give another student an opportunity to work. Punctuality and reliability are very important to this position.
