Aloha, my name is Nicole. I was born and raised in Hawaii, but chose the unpredictable Northeast for college because I wanted to experience something new. I now live in Allston after a year of dorm life. I am a double Global Business and Management major at the Sawyer Business School. I am looking forward to the commuter lifestyle this year because it will force me to become really familiar with the city.
This is my first year as a Retention Scholar, but I have been involved with many school and community groups that focus on similar goals. I am really excited to get more involved with Suffolk’s student groups and activities. I know that there is going to be a great team assembled this year to ensure lots of fun and great support.
As a freshman last year, I really took advantage of the numerous transitional support systems in place at Suffolk. I was able to build a great relationship with my financial aid and academic advisors, the people in the Bursar‘s office, and my teachers. Being so far away from home combined with the initial culture shock could have been really devastating that first semester. Suffolk has dedicated many resources to making sure you have the best experience possible, and I urge you to talk to any of us to ensure you benefit fully from these programs.
