Hi everyone! My name is Geraldin Batista and I come from Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania. My family is from the Dominican Republic and I am very proud of my roots. This year I will be a sophomore here Suffolk with an open major in the Sawyer Business School. I chose to come to Suffolk because it had everything I was looking for. It is located in the city, has smaller class sizes which help me keep focused, studying abroad opportunities, and a variety of different majors.
This year will be my first year as a Retention Scholar and I am very much looking forward to it! I chose to become a Retention Scholar because I enjoy helping out other students and being a part of a community. I am also involved in a few other organizations and programs on campus this year, which will be new experiences for me. I am Vice President of the Black Student Union, as well as a member of other cultural groups, and I am an SU 101 TA. Just like I have become involved, there are many ways for anyone at Suffolk to become involved and either join or participate in the variety of organizations and activities. The transition from high school to college can be challenging, but that is what the Retention Scholars are here for, to help and guide you as much as we can!
