Nicholas Daniloff

The Ford Hall Forum at Suffolk University presents "Of Spies and Spokesmen: A Cold War Correspondent Looks at Russia Today" featuring Nicholas Daniloff, a professor of Journalism at Northeastern University and a 30-year media veteran.

Journalism can be a dangerous profession, and Russia is considered among the most perilous places to report the news. While Russia attempts to publicize its democratic credentials, journalists are regularly targeted for murder, and no one is held accountable.

Daniloff draws upon his own international reporting experiences -- including 13 days locked up by the KGB -- to explore the challenges and possibilities of reporting in the former Soviet Union today.

Daniloff's presentation will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 30, in Rabb Auditorium at the Boston Public Library in Copley Square.

The Ford Hall Forum is the nation’s oldest free public lecture series. It promotes freedom of speech and fosters an informed and effective citizenry through events that illuminate the key issues facing our society.

The forum presents knowledgeable and thought-provoking speakers, including some of the most controversial opinion leaders of our times, in settings that facilitate frank and open debate.
