Degree Requirements
1. Candidates for the Master’s degree must complete a course of study consisting of 10-32
courses (30-100) credits
2. Maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0.
3. Earn a minimum grade of “B” (3.0) or better in all courses with a course code of 500 or
higher.
Course Loads
- Graduate students maintaining a full-time course load may enroll for a maximum of 12 credits.
- International students must be enrolled full-time.
- Part-time study is available for domestic students only.
Program Length
Applicants possessing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design (BFA) can complete the 30 credits of graduate study (700 level or higher) in three semesters of full-time study.
Applicants possessing an undergraduate degree in the visual arts (other than interior design) can often be exempted from the Foundation Program, leaving foundational interior design coursework (a maximum of 38 undergraduate credits) and 30 credits of graduate study (700 level or higher) to complete. You should expect to spend at least two years of full-time, year-round study and in some cases, up to four years, of part-time study, to complete the degree.
If you have an undergraduate degree in a field not related to the visual arts, you will generally be required to complete a maximum of 70 credits of Foundation and Foundational Interior Design study, as well as 30 credits of graduate study (700 level or higher). You should expect to spend at least three years of full-time, year-round study and in some cases, up to six years, of part-time study, to complete the degree.
