• Suffolk University Oral History Project

The Archive collects and curates oral history interviews that relate to the subjects and issues in the University's archival and special collections. The Oral History Project includes interviews with University founder Gleason Leonard Archer, long-time staff and faculty members, such as Dottie "Mac" McNamara and Patricia "Pat" Brown, and faculty panel discussions. These and other interviews within the collection allow researchers a more personal look at the University and the individuals who have helped shape Suffolk into the University it is today.

Program History and Collecting Policy

The Archive developed a specific expertise in oral history starting in 2002 through the federally funded John Joseph Moakley Oral History project.

The Suffolk University Oral History project will collect oral histories that document and preserve:

• valuable information and observations that may not be a part of the paper, photographic, and audio/video archival collections;
• a record creator’s statement of the genesis and growth of their archival collection;
• historical recordings (pre-2001) of interviews with creators and persons related to archival and special collection;
• interviews with eyewitnesses to, participants in or citizens affected by historical events represented in the archival collections.
