• Undergraduate Honors Program

Welcome to the web site of the Suffolk College of Arts and Sciences Honors Program.

The Honors Program at the College offers an intense intellectual experience as it creates a community of high-achieving students and pairs them with outstanding faculty. This elite program is designed to attract the best students in the country and give them the best possible liberal arts education.

A relatively new program, the first class of honors students graduated in 2009. The first year of the program we enrolled 18 students; we now enroll approximately 80 students each year. The success of the program stems from its rigorous academic offerings and its prestigious array of benefits, including guaranteed housing in residence halls through sophomore year, priority course registration, mentoring by junior and senior honors scholars, invitations to special classes and lectures, and participation in social events and community activities.

In addition, while a close-knit network of honors students begins to form during the Freshman Seminar, honors students are not segregated from the rest of the university even as they’re given an enriched experience. They remain integrated, enhancing their learning through the exciting diversity of the Suffolk student population, and through study time away from campus or abroad, preparing them for life in a global community.

The Honors Program is an extension of the values of a Suffolk University education. The College is unique in the country in that it is an urban college that offers small and intimate classes. It feels like a small school in the midst of an exciting urban environment. Here, it is common for all students to have classes with 20 or fewer students. Mix that with close personal contact and caring relations between the faculty and the students, a location in the midst of one of the most interesting cities on the earth—and it’s a magical place to get an education.

I invite you to further explore the Honors Program at Suffolk University.
