American Chemical Society Student Chapter
The Suffolk University student chapter of the American Chemical Society (ACS) invites Suffolk students with an interest in its activities to associate with the chapter and participate actively. Membership in the national ACS organization is encouraged, and is required of officers, but is not required for affiliation with the Suffolk University chapter.
Our chapter has won numerous national awards and grants for its many activities and programs. For example, our chapter has recently sponsored lectures on topics ranging from green chemistry business applications and internships to alumni sharing their experiences. In addition, our students are involved in many service projects such as volunteering for high school chemistry magic shows, National Chemistry Week events at the Museum of Science and Children’s Museum, dinner lectures with local chemists, and Mole Day celebrations. Each year, our students attend the ACS national meeting to learn about current research in chemistry, present posters, and receive awards for our chapter’s performance and green chemistry activities. In Spring 2009, our students went to the ACS national meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah.
