Comments by Martin Black and Gregory Fried. Martin Heidegger’s importance and influence is well known, but one might say that Leo Strauss has the distinction of being one of the 20th century’s most influential philosophers that most people have never heard of. At the heart of the reading of Heidegger by Strauss is the question of politics, and especially of Heidegger’s embrace of Nazism.

Join us for an open discussion of these two philosophers and their beliefs.

As a prompt to discussion, a reading can be found here.

All are welcome!
