Lynn Margulis is a Distinguished University Professor at University of Massachusetts-Amherst. An evolutionist and an admirer of Charles Darwin, she received a 1999 National Medal of Science from President Bill Clinton. Based on scientific collaboration with geologists and other environmentalists, Margulis developed and has taught the "Environmental Evolution: Effect of Life on Planet Earth" course every year since 1972.
She will discuss evolutionist theory and her latest book, Dazzle Gradually: Reflections on the Nature of Nature.
Following the lecture there will be a reception in the McDermott Conference Room, 1st floor, Donahue Building.
