The mission of the Master's Program in Crime and Justice Studies is to prepare students to be effective practitioners, innovators, and leaders in community work on crime and justice. The Master's Program is designed for criminal justice professionals pursuing advancement in their careers; individuals who want to work with victims, offenders, and their communities; and students who are drawn to issues of justice in the broadest sense. The programmatic approach to the study of crime and justice is holistic and balanced, creatively exploring the sources and consequences of crime and justice in society. The Master's Program is oriented toward the theoretically rich field of criminology and to a problem-solving approach that addresses the community conditions that give rise to crime.

The Master's Program offers students both in-class and in-the-field internship exposure to crime and justice. The Program provides specific tracks in victim advocacy and youth crime and justice, but students are free to craft their own course of study. Course offerings include crime and communities, restorative justice, intimate violence and sexual assault, youth crime and justice, corrections, courts, police, crime and mental health, ethics, criminal justice policy, research methods.
