Dr. Vivian W. Pinn is the director of the Office of Research on Women’s Health of the National Institutes of Health, and associate director for research on women's health. Before joining NIH in 1991, Pinn held appointments at Howard University College of Medicine, Tufts University School of Medicine, and Harvard Medical School. She has long been active in efforts to improve the health of women and minorities, and has held leadership positions in numerous professional and scientific organizations, including a term as president of the National Medical Association. Pinn has been honored with countless professional achievement awards, such as the Association of American Medical Colleges Women in Medicine Leadership Development Award.
