Requirements for a major in Philosophy are satisfied by successfully completing 36 semester hours (nine courses) in Philosophy (or an acceptable equivalent number of credits for "transitional" students who began their studies before Fall 2007).

2. Ethics (PHIL 119) or Social Ethics (PHIL 123) or Contemporary Moral Issues (PHIL 127)
3. History of Ancient & Medieval Philosophy (PHIL 210)
4. History of Modern Philosophy (PHIL 211)
5. One 400-level course in Philosophy
6. Senior Symposium (PHIL 515)
7. Three additional Philosophy courses selected with the help of an advisor. One of the three courses must be chosen from the following list: PHIL 219, PHIL 223, PHIL 250, PHIL 260.
