Russian NGO trainers present the next Pearl Lecture
Igor Ovchinnikov and Ivan Timofeev, two Russian NGO trainers, present "Training NGOs in Conflict Resolution in Russia and Beyond: Tales from the Front Lines" as part of the Philosophy Department's Pearl Lecture Series. Refreshments will be served.
Ovchinnikov and Timofeev are two founders of Moscow-based training center "Golubka" will share their experience in education Russian Non-Governmnet Organizations (NGOs) and activists in conflict resolution, nonviolent action, and grassroots organizational management. "Golubka" is a training group well-known in both the NGO and business communities in Russia and former Soviet republics. Together with their colleagues, Ivan and Igor have facilitated hundreds of trainings and workshops that were attended by more than 10,000 people across territories ranging from the Baltic Sea to the Pacific coast in the Russian Far East, from the Artic Circle to the borders of Afghanistan. In this presentation Igor and Ivan will be telling stories of their most remarkable training experiences and sharing their approach to teaching conflict resolution, nonviolence, and effective communication skills. They will also show slides from their workshops and travels across the former USSR.
