"The School Counseling Program at Suffolk University offers a unique opportunity to visit various schools while completing your pre-practicum requirements. This allowed me to meet various people in the education field, explore what type of school environment I wanted to work in, and provided me with the opportunity to explore school counseling departments in other states. This is a great networking opportunity and it has potential to help you get a job later on down the road.
The College Admission Counseling Certification program is also a great opportunity for students and I feel it should be a requirement for all students entering the school counseling field! Some of the most beneficial courses I took were part of this certification program. One course requires you to visit numerous colleges/universities and meet with someone from admissions, disability services, diversity, and/or financial aid offices. This provided me with a better understanding of the college admission process and what questions students/parents need to ask during the admission process."

"Suffolk University's School Counseling Program provides a well-balanced curriculum which takes into account the still-evolving, multi-faceted role of the school counselor as academic adviser, career counselor, and wellness advocate. The supportive faculty bring a wealth of counseling experience to the classroom, and the diverse range of practicum opportunities allows students the freedom to explore. Coming out of the program and into the job market, I was confident in the professional skills I had gained, not to mention the arsenal of valuable resources which I now draw from on a daily basis."
