The Philosophy Department offers a wide range of courses designed to cover various thinkers and systems of thought in Western and non-Western traditions.
We offer courses in such areas as: Ancient and Medieval Philosophy, Modern Philosophy, Ethics, Logic, Existentialism, Feminist Philosophy, Environmental Ethics, Philosophy of Law, Philosophy of Nature, Philosophy of Religion, Eastern Philosophy, Philosophy of Art, Philosophy of Race and Gender, Philosophy of Freedom.
Students are encouraged to have a broad background in the history of philosophy and a solid knowledge in their area of specialization. Specialized upper-level courses focussing on specific figures in the history of philosophy (e.g. Aristotle, Plato, Kant, Nietzsche) are offered regularly as well.
