10/23/2006

Suffolk University will host the Allied Irish Bank Press Photographers Association of Ireland Exhibition from October 23 to October 31, 2006. The exhibition features the very best of Irish press photography and encapsulates both the triumphs and tragedies of Irish life over the past year.

The exhibit of news, sports features, sports action, features, individual study, arts, politics, and picture essay photographs offers memorable and often moving stills of contemporary Irish society.

In encapsulating the trials and tribulations of everyday life, the exhibition underlines the continued importance of press photography worldwide and draws attention to the exemplary abilities and creative expertise demonstrated every day in the world of news and media.

Allied Irish Bank has brought the exhibition to 25 of its branches throughout Ireland and to overseas venues in France, Brussels and now Boston.

Billy Higgins, president of the Bank, Press Photographers Association of Ireland, welcomes the opportunity to bring an unmatched pictorial record of Ireland to the United States and further cement the unique Irish/American relationship through photography.

The exhibition will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday through October 31 in the Center for Teaching Excellence at Suffolk University, 73 Tremont Street, 12th floor, Boston.
