Donna Qualters is currently Chair and Associate Professor of the Education and Human Services Department. She is also the Director of the Center for Teaching Excellence at Suffolk University. Donna has been involved in faculty development, learning assessment, and teaching research at Northeastern University, MIT, University of Massachusetts Medical School, and Endicott College. Working with colleagues in psychology and cooperative education, Donna has recently developed the AIR model of ethical inquiry which is a flexible tool to process ethical concerns in the classroom, workplace, and professional life. She is a frequent presenter and speaker nationally and internationally on teaching/learning/assessment.
Donna has published in the area of assessment, teacher identity, creating faculty community, active learning and reflective practice.
Her book, Jonas Chalk: Advice from a Legendary Teacher, is the result of work from the General Electric Grant at Northeastern where she worked with Engineering and Arts & Science faculty to improve freshmen teaching and learning, including setting up an interdisciplinary peer review system.
Honored by the Professional Development and Organizational Network in Higher Education for her innovative work in faculty development in 2001.
