• Public Relations and Advertising

The Public Relations and Advertising concentration consists of 12 courses (36 credits) and includes both a core of PR and Advertising courses and options for electives in communication.

Required core courses (2 courses, 6 credits):

CJN 701 Communication Research Methods or CJN 702 Marketing Communication Research
CJN 705 Communication Theory

Concentration requirements (6 courses, 18 credits):

CJN 769 Introduction to Marketing Communication (may be waived by the graduate director)
CJN 770 Advertising
CJN 771 New Media & New Markets
CJN 772 Social Media
CJN 775 Crisis Campaign Management
CJN 777 Public Relations

Electives (4 courses, 12 credits)

A variety of classes are offered in a rotating manner on advertising copy, health communication, non-profit communication, branding, event planning, usability and information architecture, networked society and other topics.
