The Department of Economics and the Department of Humanities and Modern Languages jointly offer a career-oriented program that combines the study of international economics with knowledge of a foreign language and the politics, history, and cultures of other countries. International economics is offered in both the BA and BS.

Students who wish to acquire a broad liberal arts preparation with a strong emphasis on languages and cultures should choose the BA. Students choosing the BA take five courses in French or Spanish or German.
