NESAD offers a BFA in Graphic Design, a graphic design certificate program, and a minor.
The goal of the graphic design program is to develop design professionals who are innovative, well rounded, flexible, and able to solve the design challenges of tomorrow. Graphic designers convert ideas, information, and emotions into visual symbols designed to influence the way our society perceives people, products, and issues. Often working across disciplines, they must acquire a broad-based exposure to design issues as well as a personal style and a unique point of view as a visual communicator.
In the graphic design program, you’ll develop the intellectual and practical abilities you’ll need to be a successful graphic communicator and problem-solver. A solid background in typography, illustration, photography, printing, electronic media, and design history, as well as a commitment to analysis, concept development, and the communication of ideas, will lead you to create the successful visual communications that persuade and inform us all. Elective courses will enable you to investigate an area of personal interest, such a corporate design or motion graphics.
Applicants who do not wish the extensive training required of the BFA program, but who require more focused design training to complement existing educational or work credentials, may wish to investigate the graphic design certificate program.
