• The Future of Chinese Seapower

A Rosenberg Lecture by Dr. Toshi Yoshihara, Naval War College

Tuesday, September 18, 2012
Poetry Center, 3rd floor Sawyer Library
73 Tremont St, Boston

中國未來的海上實力. Dr. Toshi Yoshihara is an Associate Professor at the United States Naval War College. He is a specialist in China’s navy and its strategic implications for US policy in the Pacific. He received his Ph.D. from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, and has co-authored several books, including China’s Rise and the Challenge to U.S. Maritime Strategy.

China has taken major strides to modernize its naval fleet, which today is second in size only to the United States. China is increasing its submarine force and is now interested in building aircraft carriers. As China makes ever stronger claims over the waters off its coast, the United States Department of Defense has exhibited a renewed interest in Asia-Pacific.

Free and open to the public. Talk will be in English. Light refreshments will be served. Sponsored by the Rosenberg Institute for East Asian Studies at Suffolk University.
