Juan is originally from Medellin, Colombia. He migrated to US with his parents and siblings in 1990.

Juan is the director of health care services at Tufts Health Plan, a not-for-profit, health insurance company whose mission is to “improve the health and wellness of the diverse communities we serve.” Juan is responsible for strategy and analytics in relation to Tufts Health Plan’s Coordinated Care Model, which aligns cross-functional strategies from the areas of contracting, clinical services and product.

Prior to joining Tufts Health Plan, Juan was the director of affordability strategies at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (BCBSMA), where he developed and executed strategies to make healthcare more effective and affordable for BCBSMA members.

Juan is the president elect for ALPFA Boston, a Latino professional nonprofit organization with more than 2,000 members and more than 50 corporate sponsors in the Boston area. During his tenure at ALFPA, Juan was the founder of the ALPFA Healthcare initiative.
