Monday, Oct. 3, 2011
Sawyer Library
Poetry Center

English Professor Elif Armbruster will discuss her book Domestic Biographies: Stowe, Howells, James, and Wharton at Home. The book explores the domestic realities that underscore the authors’ Realist fiction and provides an innovative, architectural lens through which to study the lives and literature of four of America’s best-known authors. Armbruster read hundreds of personal letters and visited most of the authors' homes to put together these comparative domestic biographies.
