• Business Complexity & the Global Leader Conference

Presented by Suffolk University Center for Business Complexity

Monday, October 17 - Wednesday, October 19
Sargent Hall, 120 Tremont St. Boston, MA.

The "Business Complexity and Global Leader Conference" will address the unique challenges and advantages of today’s complex business world.

Business systems are not just complex. Economic and social networks follow patterns of emergence, adaptation, and self-organization similar to systems found in the natural and social world. These dynamics are due to the influence of an environment relative to other agents and networks. These complex adaptive systems demonstrate systemic behavior within ill-defined boundaries.

Complexity science offers insights into how systems behave and, in turn, lead to a better understanding of the impact of day-to-day and long-term decision-making. Understanding complex systems is fundamental to effective leadership. Moreover, it has illustrated that traditional tools that focus on reducing and controlling systems inhibit individuals from harnessing this complexity to mitigate risk and exploit opportunity.

The second annual conference will bring global leaders in business and scholarship together with participants from around the world to support dialogue and understanding of business complexity.

Featured Speakers:
Georffrey West, The Santa Fe Institute
Marta Gonzalez,  MIT
Alessandro Vespignani, Indiana University
Ren Y. Cheng, Fidelity Investments
Eric Bonabeau, Icosystems.
