2/24/2011

Suffolk University senior Jessica Ross was honored with the Creating the Dream Award at the annual Martin Luther King, Jr., luncheon hosted by the Office of Diversity Services.

Ross, a McNair Scholar, was recognized for her outstanding efforts toward creating an inclusive, respectful, and safe climate for members of the AHANA community.

“Jessica is truly involved and connected at Suffolk on so many levels. If Jess even feared someone was not being treated in an equal and fair manner she would go fight for their rights. You could find Jess in an SGA meeting, in the office of an administrator, faculty member or even dean offering input on how to make Suffolk a more inclusive and welcoming environment for all students,” said Jacinda M. Félix Haro, director of Diversity Services.

Ross, an American Government and Politics major, was recently selected an American Political Science Association Minority Fellow for 2011-2012.

She also is a resident assistant and past president of the Black Student Union.
