Freshman Named to All-New England Regional Soccer Team

Taylor Miranda


Freshman Taylor Miranda earned All-New England honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for the 2010 season. Miranda, a third-team regional selection, was the lone representative of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC).

Miranda finished the season with 46 points, scoring 21 goals and adding four assists in 17 games for the Rams.

Her 21 goals on the year set a program record, and her 17 goals in conference play set a GNAC record. Miranda was named the GNAC’s Offensive Player of the Year and was a first-team All-Conference selection.

Among top offensive players nationally

Miranda was one of the top offensive performers in the nation, with her 21 goals ranked 19th among all NCAA Division-III women’s soccer players. Her 1.24-goals-per-game average was eighth best in the nation, and her 2.71-points-per-game average was 11th. Miranda ranked 26th among all scorers in the country.

GNAC scoring leader

The freshman forward led the GNAC in points, points per game, goals, and goals per game. Her four game-winning goals ranked second in the league.

Miranda scored goals in bunches as she recorded hat tricks on two occasions, against St. Joseph’s College of Maine and Pine Manor College. Miranda had a scoring streak of seven games at one point in the season. She was named GNAC Rookie of the Week on two occasions.

She becomes the first Suffolk Women’s Soccer player to earn All-New England honors in the program’s four-year varsity history. Miranda was the lone freshman among 40 players recognized on this year’s All-New England teams.

The Rams claimed their first ever post-season berth in 2010 and, with a 10-2 record, claimed the top seed in the GNAC Tournament. The team earned its first berth in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) New England Women’s Soccer Tournament as its finished 2010 with an overall record of 13-4-1.
