“The Logic of Discipline”

12/2/2010

Rappaport Professor of Law and Public Policy Alasdair Roberts’ book, The Logic of Discipline: Global Capitalism and the Architecture of Government, was reviewed in the Nov. 26 issue of The Times of London Literary Supplement alongside Noam Chomsky’s new book, Hopes and Prospects.

The review says Roberts “shares Chomsky's view that democracy is undermined by financial liberalization"… [however] "Unlike Chomsky, Roberts declines to take a moral position, choosing instead to criticize these reforms by dispassionately dismantling the arguments presented to justify them. The world of discipline is staunchly amoral; here objectivity and efficiency always trump fickle notions of 'right and wrong'."

The Logic of Discipline was published by Oxford University Press in March 2010.
