Men’s Hockey Tie NCAA Mark

Freshman Jon Stauffer recorded first hat trick of his career

The Suffolk University men's hockey team tied the NCAA Men's Hockey record scoring eight power play goals in an 8-4 victory over Salve Regina University on Nov. 18.

The Rams are the third team in NCAA history to net eight goals in a single game with the one man advantage and second NCAA Division III men's team to do so.

Freshman Jon Stauffer of Landsdale, Penn. finished the game recording five points, tallying the first hat trick of his career and also added two assists on the night. Stauffer becomes the 27th player in NCAA Division-III history to score at least three goals in one night on the power play and the first New England player to achieve this since the 2000-01 season.

The Rams scored six unanswered goals in the final 11 minutes of play to open up their 2010-11 ECAC Northeast conference schedule.
