Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at 6:30pm and 8pm

The production is directed by Iani Moreno, Suffolk's assistant professor of Humanities & Modern Languages, and features three one-act plays by contemporary Latin American playwrights Jorge Díaz, Diana Raznovich, and Carlos Canales.

Díaz's play El cepilla de dientes (The Toothbrush), is a light-hearted comedy about a husband and wife who must invent games to cope living with one another. Casa Matriz by Raznovich is an acclaimed work about an agency that lets its clients spend time with the "substitute mothers" of their choice. The final play, El Generalisimo Brujillo, by Canales, examines the life of ex-dictator Rafael Leónidas Trujillo Molina, who ruled the Dominican Republic from 1930 until his assassination in 1961.

All three of the plays will be presented in Spanish with English subtitles.

Sufolk students featured in the play are members of Moreno's class SPAN 428 "From Script to Performance: Latin American Theatre and Society/A Service Learning Course."

A discussion and reception will follow the performances.

Admission is free and open to the public.
