Dr. Chapman is a Suffolk graduate, receiving his BSc, summa cum laude, in 2002. His PhD is from Boston College, 2006. Now living and teaching in Beijing, Dr. Chapman has become fascinated with China’s most respected city. He leads tours and teaches a course about the city. In this highly-illustrated talk, he will talk about how this most ancient city is being revitalized.

Dr. Chapman is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of History at Peking University in Beijing, where he runs the Graduate History Workshop Program. He teaches courses on Sino-American foreign relations, American and world history, and urban history.  His forthcoming book is titled Arguing Americanism: Franco Lobbyists, Roosevelt’s Foreign Policy, and the Spanish Civil War (Kent State University Press, 2011).
