9/14/2010

The Men’s Soccer team (2-2 overall) scored the most goals in a game in program history as it defeated the Wheelock College Wildcats by a score of 11-0 on Monday.

Freshman Dean Agen scored a hat trick, netting all three of his goals in the second period for the Rams, who picked up their second win of the season.

The one-sided contest saw the Rams put out 53 total shots in the game.

Junior Nick Cugine and freshman Derek Graham each had a goal and a pair of assists. Nine different Rams tallied goals in the contest for Suffolk, while 15 players had a shot on offense.

It didn’t’ take long for the offense to get started, as sophomore Ben Rollins scored in the game’s seventh minute. Suffolk would score six times in the first half before pulling most of their starters for the game’s second period. That would not slow things down, as the offense netted five more goals on 21 shots, including the three tallies by Agen.

Agen completed the hat trick with 30 seconds left in the game as he sprinted down the left side of the field for the 11th Suffolk goal of the game.

Freshman Matt Esposito picked up his first collegiate win in goal for the Rams, playing the first half. Boubacar Diarra, Jeff Williams, Graham, and Agen all tallied their first collegiate goals in the contest as well.

Suffolk will be back in action Thursday afternoon at Salve Regina College in non-conference action.
