Kathi Vander Laan, who is on the Interior Design faculty at the New England School of Art & Design, was named a 2010 Community MVP and awarded a $2,500 donation for her organization, Girls Incorporated of Lynn, by the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation and the Fidelity Charitable Gift Fund.

For 19 years, Vander Lann, who also owns VL Designs, LLC, in Marblehead, has been a tireless volunteer at Girls Inc., an organization that works to inspire low-income, disadvantaged girls to be strong, smart, and bold by providing after-school programs and resources.

Vander Lann has served as a mentor, speaker, workshop facilitator, and board member of the organization. Most recently she provided interior design services for the agency’s new 28,000-square-foot center.

The New England Patriots Community MVP awards recognize 21 community volunteers in New England who demonstrate leadership, dedication, and a commitment to bettering the community in which they live.
