College Planning in a Consumer Focused Higher Ed Marketplace

Suffolk University's Institute for Executive Education and MassINC Family Financial Skills will host higher education leaders discussing “College Planning in a Consumer Focused Higher Education Marketplace”on April 12.

The forum will explore the challenges families face as they decide how to save for college, choose a college, and pay for college.

Congress is nearing approval of major student loan reform, and U.S. Rep. John Tierney, a senior member of the House subcommittee on Higher Education, Lifelong Learning and Competitiveness and a nationally recognized leader on the topic of college affordability, will deliver the keynote address.

A panel discussion to follow will center on MassINC's recent report, Planning for College, and will include:

  • Richard Doherty, president of the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities in Massachusetts (AICUM)
  • Tom Graf, president of the Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority (MEFA)
  • Craig Powell, CEO ConnectEDU
  • Mary Grant, president of Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.

Walter F. Caffey, III, Suffolk University's associate vice president of Enrollment and Retention Management, will deliver welcoming remarks.

The session will be held  from 8-10 a.m. Monday, April 12, in the first-floor function room of Sargent Hall, 120 Tremont St., Boston.
