Magazine Cover Features Interior Design Professor's Work

A LEED-certified kitchen designed by Associate Professor  Karen Clarke graced the cover of Boston Magazine's fall 2009 home edition, "Kitchen Confidential."

Clarke, co-chair of Interior Design at the New England School of Art & Design at Suffolk University, recently designed a private residence that was LEED-certified. The kitchen of the Lincoln home was featured in the Boston Magazine Home article.

LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. Clarke is a LEED AP-certified designer, which means that she has an advanced level of knowledge of green building practices.

The article discusses the thorough research Clarke did to make the kitchen environmentally friendly. For example, she chose lightweight cabinets that use less material than most kitchen cabinetry from a company that plants trees to replace those they harvest.
