The Tainted Muse

Prejudice and presumption in Shakespeare's work and his times

Monday, Nov. 16, 2009
The Poetry Center, Sawyer Library
73 Tremont Street, Boston

Are Shakespeare's prejudices about Jews, blacks, women, homosexuals, and intellectuals really that different from our own?  Harvard legal scholar Alan Dershowitz and Suffolk University Distinguished Scholar in Residence Robert Brustein examine how the playwright's masterworks, King Lear, Othello, Hamlet, The Merchant of Venice, and The Tempest reflect the experiences of his era and ours.

Free and open to the public.  Seating is first come, first-serve.  For additional information, please call 617-573-8282.
