The Suffolk University Men's Soccer team finished the regular season with a full head of stem into the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament as they will play host to Emerson College on Halloween at 5:00pm at George Dilboy Stadium in Somerville. The Rams who were winners of their final three regular season contests finished the season in third place in the GNAC stadings with a 5-2-2 record in league play, 8-5-2 overall.
Suffolk took care of business on Tuesday defeating the Johnson & Wales Wildcats, 7-1 behind multi-goal efforts from seniors Nick Celia (Hanson, MA) and Bernhard Lotterer (Lima, Peru) to guaruntee the Rams a home contest in the eight team bracket. Lotterer was the Rams' best player down the stretch scoring seven goals in the Rams final three contests, earning GNAC Player of the Week honors for the week of October 26th. Lotterer's big week was highlighted by a four-goal effort in a 5-0 victory over Albertus Magnus College as the senior scored four goals in 71 minutes of play to match his season total coming into the contest. Lotterer finished the season with a team-best 28 points on 10 goals and 8 assists. Sophomore Danny Lloyd (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) was the Rams leading goal scorer on the year with 12. The 12 goals were the best this season among all GNAC players, while Lloyd and Lotterer finished as the top two point scorers in the conference.
The Rams will look for revenge on Saturday after Emerson defeated Suffolk by a 5-3 score on October 10. The Lions finished the regular season with a 10-7 overall record and were 5-4 in GNAC play. Fans planning to attend the game are asked to come in their Halloween costumes as treats will be handed out.
