Formerly Homeless Mother Sets Example for her Children

Michelle Auterio of Revere was homeless and struggling when she came to the realizations that “the only way to break this cycle of chaos and poverty was to become economically self-sufficient while providing a good example to my kids, and this could be accomplished through higher education.”

She earned a GED, studied at Bunker Hill Community College, and then became a Dean’s List student at Suffolk University.

At the same time she has been involved in her community as an advocate for low-income housing.

Auterio received a bachelor’s degree during Suffolk University's 2009 commencement, with a double major in Paralegal Studies and Criminology and Law. She plans to apply to law school.
