Melissa Demir graduated at the top of her Suffolk University class, with 3.97 grade point average and a perfect 4.0 average in her major, Psychology, but she also found time to serve her campus and the community.

She helped launch the Suffolk University division of the “Best Buddies” organization, which is dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with intellectual disabilities by providing opportunities for one-to-one friendships.

“What I loved most about Suffolk was that the University encourages its students to participate in a variety of domains,” said Demir.  “I was fortunate to be involved both in and out of the classroom – with my courses and my community service involvement.”

Demir is the daughter of Associate Professor Oktay Demir, who has taught in the Physics Department for more than 20 years.
