Suffolk University softball players Jess Ferreira (Cambridge, MA) and Marie Trainor (Winthrop, MA) were named to the All-Northeast Region Softball Team by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).
Ferreira, a senior shortstop, was selected to the first team as an infielder. for the third consecutive season, Ferreira was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Year. Ferreira finished the season hitting .484 with 10 home runs, 49 RBI and a slugging percentage of .951. She ranks 28th nationally in hitting and sixth in slugging percentage. Her career batting average at Suffolk is .471 and she hit 37 home runs in four seasons.
Trainor, a senior outfielder, was named to the third team. On the season, Trainor hit .397 with five home runs, 26 RBI to go along with 50 hits on the season. Trainor was also a first team All-Conference selection by the GNAC. In her three seasons with Suffolk, Trainor has hit .359 with eight career home runs, 59 RBI, 21 doubles and 38 stolen bases. This season Trainor had 14-multi hit games for the Rams.
The Rams finished the season with a 22-18 record.
