• Suffolk Alumnus Appointed as Chairman of Al Nasr Sports Club


His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Hasher Al Maktoum has been appointed as chairman of Al Nasr Sports Club. Upon the acceptance of his appointment Sheikh Maktoum was quoted as saying, "I would like to thank the Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, for bestowing his trust in me. I am truly honoured to have been considered for such a prestigious appointment. I look forward to fulfilling the role of Chairman of Al Nasr Club swiftly and effectively. The Al Nasr Sports Club is an icon of our sports heritage and is one of the oldest football clubs in the UAE. I am proud of its history and I am even prouder to be a part of its future."
Sheikh Maktoum currently serves as President of Al Fajer Properties (AFP) and also serves in the role as CEO of the Al Fajer Group (AGF), a multi-billion dollar conglomerate of which AFP is a member company. He is also founder of the A1 Grand Prix granting him massive experience in the sports industry. As President, Maktoum restructured Al Fajer Properties (AFP), which led to an impressive turnaround in record time to becoming one of the strongest and most successful property developers in Dubai today.
Sheikh Maktoum received his first international award when he was selected as "Young Global Leader 2007" by the World Economic Forum. In March 2008, he was awarded the prestigious Young CEO of the Year award by the former French prime minister Dominique de Villepinn.
