2/3/2009

Olivia Demeter was selected to participate in the Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival regional competition for her play Snap. The festival took place in Fitchburg from January 27- February 1. The festival gathers the most promising college theatre artists to see one another’s work and share ideas. Participants work with students from different universities across New England to produce their plays and also attend workshops on a variety of subjects. Winners of the regional competition are eligible to participate in the national competition in Washington D.C. Suffolk has had a representative at almost each annual regional festivals for the past 10 years.

Snap is a short play Olivia wrote as part of her Playwriting I class in the fall and explores how the pressures in contemporary life can manifest. The professor for the class, Kate Snodgrass, encouraged all of her students to submit to the festival. Snap was one of only six plays selected for the regional festival.

Olivia is in her sophomore year at Suffolk and is an English major. She is from Walden, NY.
