• Suffolk and Boston University Collaborate to present Boston premiere for ZinnFest

1/6/2009

Suffolk University and Boston Playwrights’ Theatre present Daughter of Venus by Howard Zinn, author of A People’s History of the United States and Distinguished Scholar in Residence at Suffolk University.

Paolo, a biophysicist, must deal with the attempted suicide of his wife Lucy, and the return of his long-absent daughter Aramintha in the midst of a professional and ethical choice.  Having vowed never to return to a life of state funded biochemical weapons development, Paolo must decide whether saving millions is worth the lives of his family—or will he make the same mistakes he committed years before?

Daughter of Venus reminds us that sometimes the choices we make (or don’t make) have vast repercussions on our world and on the people we love.

The cast includes Ken Cheeseman, Angie Jepson, Paula Langton, and Stephen Russell (courtesy of Actors’ Equity Association) and Suffolk Alum Alex Pollock. The creative team also features Suffolk faculty and staff, Wesley Savick (director) and Steve McIntosh (lighting design).

Daughter of Venus runs January 22-24, 2009 at the C. Walsh Theatre and then transfers to the Boston Playwright’s Theatre January 29- February 8, 2009. For tickets call 866.811.4111 or visit Boston Playwrights’ Theatre online. Tickets are $25/General Admission - $20/Seniors (62+) - $10/Students (with valid ID). Special Suffolk student Rush  for $5 available one hour prior to the show, space permitting.

Daughter of Venus is part of ZinnFest, a city-wide festival showcasing the dramatic work of Dr. Howard Zinn.
