Junior Mike Mondello (Revere, Mass.) opened the scoring with a power-play goal at 12:56 of the first period, but Russell evened the score at one at 16:03 off a feed from freshman Eric Spalt (Barnstable, Mass.). The goal was Russell's fifth of the season.

Trott took a pass from sophomore Brett Pimental (East Falmouth, Mass.) and beat Suffolk sophomore netminder Jeff Rose (Collinsville, Conn.) for his fourth goal of the season.
