The Suffolk University Rams Hockey team dropped their home opener at Walter Brown Arena Saturday night 3-1 to Worcester State College.Sophomore goaltender Jeff Rose (Collinsville, CT) was superb in net making 34 saves, but the Rams had trouble getting going offensively.
The Rams jumped out to an early 1-0 when junior defenseman Nick Davis (Pittsburgh, PA) scored his second goal of the season midway through the first period. Suffolk seemed to have scored just a few minutes earlier, but the goal was waived off because of a dislodged net.
Sophomore Nick Asterito (Philadelphia, PA) scored the game winning-goal, his first on the season with five minutes left in the 3rd period, before William Knauber added an empty net goal to seal the Lancer victory. Junior goaltender Andrew Evans (Cromwell, CT) made 21 saves on the night for the Lancers’ second win on the season.
Suffolk drops to 0-3 on the season, 0-1 in the ECAC Northeast. The Rams will play again Tuesday at home against Wentworth at 7:15 p.m.
