Ready, Set, ACT!, Suffolk University’s children’s theater troupe, joined forces with Residence Life and Summer Programs to provide Halloween entertainment for Boston kids.

The troupe visited the Mozart School in Roslindale on Halloween in full costume to perform animated storytelling for first-to-third-graders.

Andrea Peckham, a Suffolk alumna who is a second-grade teacher at the school, helped organize the trip.

Residence Life and Summer Programs organized a Halloween party at the 10 West Street dormitory later in the day for children from the Chinatown Wang YMCA.  Ready, Set, ACT! performed for the 4-through-12-year-olds, who also played games and went trick-or-treating in the dorm.

Ready, Set, Act! was founded in 2007 by a group of student leaders interested in both theater and education. The group creates original performances for young audiences, which are directed, acted, designed, and produced by Suffolk students.

The Performing Arts Office supports Ready, Set, Act! by funding the group and serving as its advisers.

“We're thrilled about the progress of the children's theatre troupe,” said Performing Arts Office Director Kristin Baker.  “We feel this program will continue to provide meaningful student leadership opportunities in the arts as well as being a great benefit to the community.”
