How does a poem move from an idea in the writer's imagination to a text on the printed page? Germaine Warkentin, Professor of English, Emerita, University of Toronto, will share her insights into the complex process of writing, revision, collaboration, and compilation that helps bring poems into being, with visual and written examples from the works of Petrarch, T.S. Eliot, Ezra Pound, and others.

The English Department presents the inaugural lecture in the Mandl Series in Literature and Culture.  Refreshments will be served.
