Women's Soccer Drops Game To JWU

Johnson and Wales University (1-0 GNAC, 4-1 overall) took advantage of four second-half goals and a Samantha Reynolds hat trick to hand Suffolk University (0-1 GNAC, 1-2 overall) a 5-0 loss in the Rams’ home women's soccer opener at Dilboy Stadium in Somerville, MA. 

Reynolds led the Wildcats’ attack, scoring all three of her goals in the second half in a six-minute span. Reynolds’ first goal came unassisted in the 50th minute to give JWU a 2-0 lead. Reynolds struck again in the 53rd minute on another unassisted goal to put the Wildcats ahead 3-0. Jennifer Paquin assisted Reynolds for her third goal in the 56th minute to give JWU a commanding 4-0 lead.

Katlyn Gerrish capped off an impressive afternoon for JWU in the 78th minute with her teams’ fourth unassisted goal of the match for a 5-0 lead.

The Wildcats took a 1-0 lead into the second half after Caitlyn Albert converted on a penalty kick try in the 39th minute.

The Wildcats out shot the Rams 23-12. Suffolk’s sophomore goalkeeper Emily Joyce (Easton, MA) faced 14 shots in the final 45 minutes to come away with a solid 11-save performance in the game. Kory Blythe had six saves of her own for JWU.

Suffolk will look to grab its first GNAC win of the young season Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 pm when they head to New Haven, CT to take on Albertus Magnus.
